FREE Waterfront RV site in Seward, Alaska in Exchange for Volunteer Opportunities
The Alaska SeaLife Center is recruiting RVers for our Guest Services Greeter positions for the 2020 season. In exchange, the RV site fee is waived for volunteer opportunities.
Applications are currently being accepted for RV volunteer positions at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Located in Seward, Alaska, it is Alaska’s only public aquarium. RV camping spaces come with electric and water hookups and a million-dollar view of Resurrection Bay.
Before volunteering you will participate in training and receive additional information about this position. Training is scheduled to begin May 18, 2020 and will include extensive information about the Center and its primary mission areas of marine research, wildlife response, and education.
Greeters are an important part of the Guest Services Team at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Greeters welcome our guests to the Center by giving them an overview of our exhibits and answering various questions about the Center and the surrounding area of Seward. These interactions can take place in the lobby of the Center or outside on our courtyard on a sunny day. Greeters will be trained on and will use the POS system to assist guests as needed to check on their membership status.
Greeters will also give short welcoming addresses to larger tour groups. As a greeter, you will provide our guests with their initial impression of the Alaska SeaLife Center. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with public speaking, enjoys interacting with others, will ensure excellent and memorable experiences for our guests, and has an enthusiasm for the Alaska SeaLife Center and our mission.
“The Alaska SeaLife Center generates and shares scientific knowledge to promote understanding and stewardship of Alaska’s marine ecosystems.”
Applicants must be able to provide their own camping unit. An RV site will be provided on the shores of beautiful Resurrection Bay within walking distance of the Center. The site is in the City of Seward waterfront campground and includes water, electricity, and refuse removal *(there is a $5 dump fee). In exchange, the Center asks for a minimum of 20 hours of volunteering per week per person. Preference will be given to those who can commit to staying for the entire or most of the summer season. Our summer season runs from mid-May to mid-September. The position duration is based on acceptable performance and will be reviewed annually for renewal. Depending on the volunteer position you are appointed to, you may be subject to a background check.
